Update 6 - Turn Based Mode and More…

Hi Everyone!

We are publishing our sixth update for Forest Farming. It contains a significant change to the game mechanics and a few more nice new things:

  1. Game mechanics is now turn-based.
  2. Characters may now interact with one another.
  3. Bean Bevers Cafe and Rapid Hole Transit were added to the game.
  4. New levels were added.

Game Mechanics

This is a major change of course, but we believe it’s for the better. Now, instead of planning the farming routes for the creatures, you directly control their movement. The route-building mode was fun, and we enjoyed it very much, but it was limited in its flexibility when applied to the setting that we chose for our game. It turned out to be much more fun to be directly involved in the lives of the forest creatures—to move them around, collect things, interact, and observe the results. We believe the turn-based mode will allow us to build more flexible and interesting levels. At the same, the main logic behind the puzzle remains the same. You still need to help forest dwellers to complete their daily tasks and do it in time.

More complex interactions

Turn-based mode allows us to experiment and add more things for the characters to do around. As a first step, we made it so that characters can now small-talk with one another and sometimes chat with a friend will be included in a puzzle to-do list.

Places to visit

It was hard to plan a large route ahead. By contrast, with the turn-based mode, puzzles can grow in size and still be solvable. With this update, we added two things that will help characters get around and complete their tasks quickly:

  1. Bean Beavers Cafe - hedgehogs can visit it to get a boost for the next turn or a few.
  2. Rapid Hole Transit system - it offers instant point-to-point transportation.

We wish you a great mid-summer and hope you’ll enjoy playing Forest Farming like we do!
